Thematic Priorities

The interaction between transport and other European policies means that research in support of transport policy spans eight Thematic Priorities in the Cooperation Programme and 14 Calls open in 2007. In particular:

  • Transport: aeronautics and air transport, surface transport (rail, road and waterborne) and support for the European Global Satellite Navigation System (GALILEO)
  • Energy hydrogen and fuel cell transport applications, biofuels for transport, socio-economic impacts of new energy sources and technologies
  • Information and Communication Technologies: ICT applications for mobility
  • Space: satellite communications applications
  • Security: transport infrastructures, detection, tracking and tracing of people and goods, management of security incidents
  • Socio-Economic Sciences and Humanities: socio-economic and scientific indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of policy measures and the project impacts, and research to better understand societal and environmental problems
  • Environment: pollution and climate change, environment and health, and management of the marine environment
  • Nanotechnology: transport applications
