The Artemis web site The ENIAC web site The Technology Strategy Board International web site JTIs are a major element of the European Union’s 7th Research Framework Programme. JTIs provide a way of creating new partnerships between publicly and privately-funded organisations involved in research, focussing on areas where research and technological development can contribute to European competitiveness and quality of life. These Initiatives are run by Joint Undertakings (JU) – a cooperation between The Commission and the specific Industrial associations. Please click here for JTI Brochure. In the Information Communications Technology [ICT] domain there are two JTIs the ARTEMIS JU https://www.artemis-ju.eu/ and the ENIAC Joint Undertaking http://www.eniac.eu. These bodies support research on Embedded Computing Systems and Nanoelectronics respectively. The 2010 calls for proposals for collaborative research by these two bodies have now been published in the Official Journal. The proposal process is, in both cases, a two step one with a mandatory outline proposal to be submitted around 6 weeks after the call.
Although the submission of a Project Outline is MANDATORY, the outcome of its evaluation is for guidance only and cannot affect the right to subsequently submit a full proposal. It is important to understand that the funding available to participants can come from two sources a) their State funding body – under its individual rules, and b) from the Joint Undertaking. This is explained in the Guides for applicants. UK will provide approximately 4.0 M €‚ funding for the 2010 ARTEMIS call, and some 1.5 M€ funding for the ENIAC 2010 call. Further details are available from: ARTEMIS: https://www.artemis-ju.eu/call2010 Copies of the Technology Strategy Board’s Eligibility cost criteria for UK Collaborators applicable to the 2010 ARTEMIS and ENIAC calls for proposals. They are available via links in the “Related Documents” sections of the specific pages on the innovateuk site mentioned above, or directly ARTEMIS here and ENIAC here
