FP7 is the short name for the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development. This is the EU’s main instrument for funding research in Europe and it will run from 2007 to 2013.
The EC budget for the next seven years is over € 52 billion and participation is open to all organisations including large businesses, SMEs, universities, research centres public bodies and individuals. Funding rates can be up to 75% depending on the type of organisation and project.
FP7 supports collaborative research in a wide range of technological areas – the aim being to make, or keep, the EU as a world leader in those sectors.
FP7UK consists of an integrated team of National Contact Points that provides information and advice to help UK participants achieve success in EU R&D Programmes. FP7UK also supports other EU/Technology Strategy Board joint funded initiatives in particular Eurostars as well as other specific technology related schemes.
