When I was a teenager music was the most important thing to me. I remember lying in bed listening to the radio and digging just about everything I heard. This was back in the early 60′s when there was plenty of great music on the radio. I remember the Beatles and the Hollies really knocked me out with “Bus Stop” and “Carrie Anne”. “Rubber Soul” was my favorite Beatles album and still is for that matter. I also remember listening to the Searchers song “Needles and Pins” while lying in my room with my cheap transistor radio. Music was really what got me through my teenage years. But still I never made the decision to learn to play guitar.
I even had several friends who played. There was a local band that was very popular and some of my friends played in that band. I remember they did a lot of Beatles tunes. One of them was my first friend from 3rd grade. The band was called the Orphans and one of the guitar players eventually became quite well known in the Boston area and played with some big names. I had plenty of inspiration back then but still I never bothered to pick up the guitar.
